LifeStraw Personal Water Filter Review 2021

by FrankAug 29th, 20216 mins read

It’s no secret that the world is facing an unprecedented water crisis.

The United Nations predicts that by 2025, 1 out of 3 people on our planet will live in a country with severe water scarcity for at least one month every year. That means more than 2 billion people globally will be living without access to clean drinking water or basic sanitation services. The effects are already being felt: according to the World Health Organization, approximately 842 million people globally lack improved sources of drinking water and almost 2 billion don't have basic sanitation facilities like flush toilets or sewage systems. And it's not just adults who suffer: children under 5 years old are disproportionately affected by unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation because they're most likely to drink dirty water and get sick.

It's priced at $50 and it can be used to produce clean drinkable liquids indefinitely after purchase since no shelf life exists with this product.

This will backwash any dirt that may be present in the filter.

Cons:

  • It is not recommended for everyday use because it doesn't filter out chemicals or viruses; instead, this product filters out dirt, bugs, and protozoa.
  • One downside of LifeStraw is that it has to be back washed after drinking dirty water. This means you have to push down on the mouthpiece with your thumb and then release - which requires a bit of effort
  • The cleaning process for LifeStraw can be tedious since you only do it once every 2 weeks or less depending on the amount of water you drink.
  • LifeStraw is a personal use item. If you have more than one person in your household that drinks a lot of water and wants to filter out chemicals, viruses, etc. then this product is not ideal for the whole family because it needs to be cleaned frequently

My experience using LifeStraw

I remember my first time using the LifeStraw filter. I was on a hiking trip and I had been drinking from streams for most of the day. I could feel that my stomach was hurting me, but I just wanted to focus on finishing the hike since it would be my last one. Once we got back to our car and I noticed that my stomach was in complete pain from drinking water from the streams. The relief came when everyone handed me a LifeStraw to drink out of and I didn't feel any more pain.

Conclusion: Should you buy LifeStraw?

Whether you're a hiker, camper, or someone who has emergency kits for their home and car - the LifeStraw water filter should be on your list of "must-have" items. It is perfect for anyone looking to drink clean water anywhere they go without worrying about chemicals or viruses getting mixed in with what's coming out of the tap. The only downside? You have to backwash it after every use which means some work! If you really want this product though and are willing to put up with that extra step then we say go for it!
